Lifestyle | Abundance Naturally | The Skin Battle

Review by Catherine’s Cabinet

Only a few select people in my life know about the relationship I have with my skin. Well, I think it’s about time I come right out and say it, I have problem skin. It’s been an issue I’ve been dealing with for almost 10 years now. An up and down struggle with a varied array of problems from redness, to acne, to dry and oily… sometimes all at the same time. It’s a perpetual cycle of trying new products like cbd oil 500mg (which was possibly one that made the most difference to my skin), wearing a ton of makeup and then dealing with the consequences while just being too ashamed to go bare-faced. I’ve come to the conclusion that if I try these products that I’ve mentioned below and don’t notice any positive changes, I may have to finally get help from specialist doctors such as Dr. Swail to see what can be done about the skin issues I’m having.

Not many people have seen me without makeup and I usually like to keep it that way. I carry it around with me and sneak away to the bathroom to reapply at the weirdest times so that no one has to see what might be my biggest insecurity. Woah, we’re getting a little heavy here, eh? Well, let me lighten this up a little bit, folks.

I was recently lucky enough to take a positive step forward in the battle with my skin. Abundance Naturally invited me out to one of their events to talk about and test drive some of their amazing products straight from beautiful Australia. Abundance Naturally was founded on the premise that pure, natural ingredients can help the body to nourish and heal itself. Upon the discovery that Australia is a wealth of naturally sourced beauty products and is also a leader in this ever growing industry, Abundance Naturally dedicated themselves to sharing these little gems with Canada.

Now, this doesn’t mean that they don’t recognize the wonderful resources Canada has to offer. They also have partnerships for their very own Abundance Naturally Baby brand, Canadian made with as many Canadian sourced ingredients as possible. “Our new Abundance Naturally Baby brand is locally made using soothing essential oils, nourishing plant botanicals and healing herbs to cleanse, heal and nurture baby’s new skin and pregnant and nursing moms without the use of any synthetic, petrochemical and harsh ingredients which penetrate the skin into the bloodstream.” I mean come on, who wants to use a bunch of harsh chemicals on their babies?

During this event, I walked around the room filled with joy and excitement, seeing everyone so invested in the sourcing of the products, the multiple uses and the almost instant results that were offered. Although I had a hard time picking, here are my top 3 favourites from Abundance Naturally and why:

Kosmea Radiance 24/7 Youth Boost

abun_kosmea_radiance_24_7_youthboost

Key Ingredients: Rose Hip Oil*, Sea Buckthorn Oil*, Pomegranate Oil*, Camelia Oil*

*Certified Organic

•Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil – contains over 80% essential fatty acids which support healthy looking skin by working on cell membrane integrity.

•Certified Organic Sea buckthorn oil – Vitamins A, E, B1, B2, K and P for a more radiant complexion as these all provide protection and boost skin repair.

•Certified Organic Pomegranate Oil – rich in antioxidants to help protect against the visible signs of ageing by helping to remove toxins and prevent cellular oxidation.

•Certified Organic Camellia Oil – leaves the skin looking more rejuvenated, healthy and vibrant.

I have added this to my nightly beauty regimen by putting it on my skin every night before I go to bed. When I wake up, my face is less red and I can already see a noticeable difference in the reduction of my scars. This stuff is MAGIC. Honestly, the entire line by Kosmea is absolutely wonderful.

Sanctum Men’s Deodorant

Sanctum Deodorant

Key Ingredients: Aloe barbendis Leaf Juice*, Olive Leaf Extract*, Decyl Glucoside, Triethyl Citrate (Bilberry), Aqua, Myrrh Extract*, Guar Gum, Honeysuckle Flower Extract*, Xanthan Gum, Cedarwood Bark Oil*, Lavender Oil*, Japanese Honeysuckle Flower Extract*, Bergamot Oil*, Patchouli Oil*, Geranium Oil*, Sandalwood Oil*, limonene, linalool

*Certified Organic

This organic roll-on deodorant blends the essential oils and plant extracts of Bergamot, Patchouli and Sandalwood. The unique blend of Myrrh and Honeysuckle help to control body odour and aid in limiting the production of oil/wetness on the skin’s surface. It’s Aluminum and Zinc free, meaning no harsh heavy metals sneaking into places where they shouldn’t be.

Yes, a men’s deodorant. And yes, I’m using it every single day. It smells fresh and clean and although it’s marketed woody scent is geared towards men, it’s actually great for everyone. It doesn’t leave any marks behind on my clothing and I still smell lovely even if I am glowing a bit. Nothing should stop you from sweating altogether. Of course, there are people who have to live with health conditions that cause excessive Sweating, but there are some fantastic treatments out there nowadays such as Botox for these cases. My stance on antiperspirants and deodorants could be a whole post in and of itself. But I will keep it short and sweet by saying that your lymphatic system needs to drain in order to remove toxins from your body. If you aren’t removing these toxins, where the heck do you think they go? Yep, sometimes they stay in your body to wreak more havoc. No one wants these to stay in their body, especially if there are ways to get rid of them and make us feel healthier and our bodies stronger. It then comes as no surprise to find that someone people may decide to do some research into what the foot detox colors mean, as an Ionic foot detox is said to help relieve toxins in the body. This may be something worth looking into.

You were meant to sweat, but you don’t need to stink while doing it. So go get hot, get moving and SWEAT IT OUT!

Thursday’s Plantation Tea Tree Certified Organic Foam Face Wash

abun_tp_facewash_foam

Key Ingredients: Water, Coco-Betaine, Decyl Glucoside, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract*, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Eucalyptus Citriodora Oil*

*Certified Organic

This Certified Organic foaming face wash is natural and completely soap-free. It aids in the prevention of acne by gently cleansing the skin to remove a build up of excessive oils. It contains 100% pure Australian Tea Tree Oil which acts as a mild antiseptic because of it’s antibacterial properties and also contains Chamomile which then soothes the skin.

“Thursday Plantation Certified Organic Tea tree Face Wash is ideal for acne and pimples, problem complexions, daily face cleansing, oily skin without the use of chemicals like Benzoyl Peroxide. Free from parabens, petrochemicals, propylene glycol, lauryl sulphates, polysorbates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic colours and animal derived ingredients.”

I’m absolutely in love with this cleanser. It gently removes all of my makeup without drying out my skin because it’s soap free! Now, you can’t expect all of your acne problems to be solved superficially, although products like this can help you to manage breakouts. Sometimes there is a deeper rooted cause for your acne so I would always recommend discussing this with your health care professional, whomever that may be (Naturopath, Nutritionist, Doctor, Dermatologist, etc).

I’m a strong advocate for natural beauty products. I would rather use something like Almond Oil to remove my eye makeup than the chemical crap storms that are sold in drug stores. Yes, I do still wear makeup, but I invest in quality, natural-based, organically sourced products. So that’s where Abundance Naturally is now fitting into my life and changing it drastically. They have become my new source for outstanding organic and natural beauty products. I am seeing changes in my skin every single day and I can’t tell you how genuinely amazing that feels after battling for so long. Never forget to continue working on the inside as it will always come out of you shining on the outside (but hey, a little help on the outside never hurts too).
