Toronto | Hudson Kitchen shows Toronto what a patio should be

From coast to coast in Canada, the summer has arrived finally and patio season is officially in full swing. It makes a lot of people want to refurbish their outdoor spaces in their gardens and redo their patios. Perhaps the most popular these days is flagstone patios and paths, which many people find from companies like westminsterstone.com. Then there is the element of added some new furniture as well. Just completely transforming it to ensure you can enjoy the best of the summer months. When I think of eating in the summer, there is no image that comes to mind faster then that of sitting on a patio (check out teak garden furniture uk for some seating inspiration) enjoying the sunshine with friends and the ones I love. And I’ll be honest, please don’t take offence other cities in Canada, Toronto has some of the best patios I have ever enjoyed. I love patios so much, I only wish I had one in my own home. I dream of having a really cool space with luxurious Sliding Patio Doors too! But what it is that makes a truly perfect restaurant patio? Location, size and decor are key when you’re in search for an outdoor experience. Too big and you feel overwhelmed and lost in the crowd. Too small and it can feel a little awkward or unaccommodating for a group looking to dine together. It’s almost like Goldilocks… it has to be just right. Thankfully for the city of Toronto, Hudson Kitchen is showing the rest of the city what a patio should be. Let me tell you why!

Located in the Dundas West neighbourhood, this restaurant hit the Toronto food scene with quite a splash last year. During The Toronto International Film Festival, all the celebrities seemed to dinning in the space for its intimate and private feeling, alongside delicious food and drinks. If you didn’t hear about it than (which, I mean really, how could you not?) you’re certainly going to hear about it now.

Alongside the launch of a new Summer menu in full swing now for food lovers of all kinds, the cocktail list got a few new additions too. The libations are just what the doctor called for after a long day at the office or to kick start a great night. For Torontonians and tourists alike, I can say with confidence, that this is a must see.

Hudson Kitchen’s 800 sq. foot patio accommodates up to fifty patrons for brunch, dinner, and drinks. Nestled just north of Dundas on Palmerston Blvd., the newly launched patio provides a sunny and relaxing environment for the neighborhood. They have even bought a patio heater to ensure that customers are warm and cozy during the winter months.

One of my favourite things about Hudson Kitchen is their use and integration of fresh local produce and ingredients in their menu, dishes and drinks. There is something quite quaint and comfortable about the menu itself (though I don’t want to detract from the patio topic, so make sure to check out the menu here) and I always prefer to support local when I can. “Our Leaf to Root philosophy elevates the dining experience to a whole new level. By fusing fresh and sometimes unexpected, locally-driven ingredients while preserving their nutritional value, Executive Chef Robbie Hojilla celebrates food and all its possibilities.”

A new summer menu, some new summer cocktails and a new summer patio combine in a trifeckta of reasons to make your next visit to Hudson Kitchen happen sooner then later. I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed.
